community outreach

The Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire works closely with community partners to sponsor community events, fundraise, and provide financial education workshops in the communities we serve.

In the summer, CDCSB hosts an annual film event for the public that is designed to inform the audience about issues relating to housing and economic development through informative films and stimulating discussions afterward. Recent films/discussion include Citizen Jane, One Big Home and Affordable Green Housing, which was followed by a discussion about sustainability in the southern Berkshires.

In the fall, CDCSB holds its annual Community At Bat charity softball game, which brings friends and neighbors together to enjoy a fun afternoon while raising funds for affordable housing and economic development.

In addition to these community events, CDCSB partners with two local financial institutions, Greylock Federal Credit Union & Salisbury Bank, to offer financial literacy workshops to residents of low-moderate income housing to help increase their knowledge about buying a home and improving their credit ratings.

CDCSB also regularly partners with other organizations to support community events. CDCSB’s close working relationship with regional open space organizations is key to supporting economic growth with outdoor recreation and developing new affordable housing that preserves the rural character of the Berkshires, in addition to connecting with community members. We have co-sponsored Great Barrington Land Conservancy’s River Walk programming, the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, volunteer events with Berkshire natural Resource Council, and the Housing the Berkshires: How to Create Housing for Everyone workshop.
