affordable housing

The Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire’s mission is to develop affordable housing in the south Berkshire region to serve families and individuals and create the opportunity for residents to work where they live.

High rents and home purchase prices create large obstacles for the growing number of working families who seek housing in the area. The CDCSB solves this problem by providing low-moderate income rental apartments, whereby residents are able to live locally despite the challenging housing market prices in and around Berkshire County.

The CDCSB currently has multiple projects in various stages of development, which, when complete, will significantly increase the number of affordable housing rental apartments available in the region. Each of the CDCSB’s projects strives to preserve open space, by employing “green” building techniques and engaging creative solutions to add solar energy where possible.

Affordable Housing

A major portion of the Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire’s mission is to develop affordable housing opportunities in the southern Berkshires, in order for residents to be able to work and live in the same community. By providing low-moderate income housing options, residents are able to live locally despite the expensive housing market in south Berkshire County. High rents and home prices create large obstacles for the growing number of working families who seek housing in the area.

We currently have multiple projects in various stages of development, which, when complete, will significantly increase the affordable housing stock in our area. In addition to providing housing units, each CDCSB project preserves open space, employs green building techniques, and promotes transit-oriented development.
